About The Artist
George Ceffalio is a native of Chicago, IL. Studied commercial art in college but did not start painting
fine art until 2004. He has studied with David Leffel and Rose Frantzen along with several other artists at the Palette & Chisel
Academy of Fine Art and the DuPage Art League.
The paintings I create are done in oil paint in the chiaroscuro classic style.
Most of my paintings start out with small sketches or a still life set up that can take many alterations before getting the right
feel and look I'm trying to express. I mix realism and abstraction to obtain this goal, painting on canvas or wood panel. The
love of painting and taking a blank white surface to create a beautiful image are my reasons for being an artist. My favorite painters
and illustrators are: Rembrandt, DaVinci, John Singer Sargent, Rubens, Andrew Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, David Leffel, Mike Capser, Roger
Dean, William Matthews and Howard Terpning.
